Follow up on our successful DEATH CAFE!

We had 14 people attend. The conversation was about death and its implications on our lives.

We believe this was the first DEATH CAFE to be held in Fort St John.

The purpose was to have an open conversation on the topic of death, thereby starting to address the stigma surrounding death and normalizing this difficult topic. Our conversation was followed up with a presentation explaining grief and te varied forms that it can take. This presentation (and the Death Cafe) was led by Roz Smith, a local grief counsellor.

Our sincere thanks to Roz. Also sincere thanks to the members of the Fort St John Palliative Care Society who supported this event.

There was agreement that we should look at doing this type of event again, perhaps on a regular basis, and to also explore the option of creating support groups to help people dealing with grief on their journey.

Tentative date for the next DEATH CAFE is April 8th. If you are interested in participating, or would like more info, please contact Norbert Kaspar @ 250-261-1604 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
